feeder sound exclusive premiere: Luminescu – Onirythmies I – Rêveries Australes LP [Archipel Musique]

Under his Luminescu moniker, Montreal-based artist Louis Kutarba reveals his first full-length album, “Onirythmies I – Rêveries Australes”, on the esteemed Canadian imprint Archipel Musique. Mastering duties were entrusted to the label’s founder, Pheek, underscoring the project’s meticulous attention to sonic detail. The graphic design is signed by Jésabel DC.

Like a photon amongst shadows, Luminescu remains a mysterious yet constant presence in the international underground electronic music scene, always delivering sophisticated, organic and shamanic grooves rooted in a smooth blend of minimal techno, microhouse, ambient and world music. Over time, his experimental works have been published independently or in collaboration with labels such as Microgarden Lab, Minimadelic Records, Relic, Romanesco Records, Solido, Psicodelica and Ambrosia Records.

“This album is a reflection on the mechanics of dreaming, travel, and electronic music. Here, the dream is understood as a literary and artistic object. It explores the properties of dream logic translated into sound compositions. Among these properties are metamorphosis (Kafka), spatial and temporal labyrinths (Borges), recursive and surrealist structures (Breton), symbolic saturation, perspectival instability, and emotional primacy. Finally, this album is dedicated to my dear friend Kiwi (Ka Hui Amara Camara) and my travel companion Jo. Dream in peace.” – Luminescu

Composed during a 10-month journey in Australia, Thailand and Indonesia, the LP opens with “Le Gardien du Sommeil” building tension through a pulsating drone entangled with field recordings, wobbling synth sparks and twisted modulations that lead to the grungy textures and meandering drumming patterns of “Le Prophète de l’Oubli”. Following, “Day For It” is marked as an interlude, yet it dives deeper into experimental, laying out balanced broken beats and ethereal atmospheres that could make anyone start dancing and daydream in seconds.

“Bouche à Bush” switches gears, revealing an exotic and driving composition where Louis’ swinging groove meets the ancestral vibrations of the didgeridoo, as sung by Quentin Ruiz aka Keane38. The next track, “Hameçon, Âme Saoule”, is carried by the voice and poetry of Zoé Blasfemme, which creates a surreal experience perfect for meditative states of mind. Our featured premiere for today, “La Chancelière des Champs de Lierre”, sees the artist glide over quirky drumming patterns, heavily-phased mid-lows and retro-infused chords, all flavoured with Igor Erchov’s piano insertions.

Rolled into tribal and psychedelic motifs, “Panacea” drops an enveloping sound, fueled by piercing drums and bursting complementary layers that fade into static rumble and an exquisite amalgamation of samples that hold the rhythm. The outro reflects on the intro, forming a sonic loop, pushing the LP’s content into an immersive auditory experience.

Founded in 2004 by Jean-Patrice Rémillard aka Pheek, Archipel Musique emerged from a community built around sharing ideas about electronic music production. Over time, it evolved into a globally recognised platform, bringing together like-minded artists who release their work under the label’s curator’s careful guidance, who also offers top-notch mastering services. The venture’s extended catalogue includes numerous titles focused on the modern aspects of house, techno, ambient and experimental music.
