Melatune Records celebrates one year of activity as a sublabel of Advisual Records with “Urban Roots EP” signed by founder and curator Alex Oprea. Designed with solid electro, breakbeat and acid influences, the release provides three tracks connected by a cohesive flow of dynamic drumming patterns, intricate background textures and trippy effects. The mastering is provided by Ghironte.

Active as a DJ and producer for quite some time now, Alex Oprea is deeply immersed in his sound, exploring various techniques rooted in modern and vintage styles alike. His solo or collaborative works alongside Teo as Quantifiq are making waves in the underground scene while capturing the attention of various local and international labels such as Welter, Intelligent Sound, Resonance, Micro Division, Rominimal Collective and Eleutheria Records.

Urban Roots EP was born from the idea of the urban hustle around us, with all tracks recorded with strong old-school breaks and acid influences.

Opening the EP, “Electogant” drops an energetic, hypnotic sound built on rumbling broken beats and twisted, sharp synth arrangements, creating a driving groove perfect for heating the dancefloor. Following, “Ironic Priorities” rolls with a playful vibe, laying out heavily phased percussion sequences and swinging complementary layers, while “Native Frequency” concludes the journey with a deep and nostalgic feeling, immersed in traditional motifs and modern minimal aesthetics at the same time.

Aside from operating as the main platforms for Alex’s releases, Melatune and Advisual remain an open environment for like-minded artists to connect, explore modern electronic music and closely connected arts.
