Italian artist Giomini delivers “Beyond Structures EP” as the first release coming from the freshly founded imprint Neo Life, showcasing his hypnotic, deep and dub-tinged house style. Early support arrives from artists like Andrey Pushkarev, VincentIulian, Red Pig Flower, Ohm and Aziesch, among others.

From the moment he opened his own record store in 1998, Luigi Giomini has been completely immersed in the pulse of the underground. Surrounded by vinyl and a thriving club culture, his passion soon took him behind the decks, first in local venues, then at clubs and festivals around the world, delivering sets that combined deep grooves with an unshakable sense of rhythm. By the early 2000s, he had moved into music production, first in the techno scene through projects like Abnormal Boyz and then in the house movement with the project Marsupials. Alongside his creative output, he established and ran multiple record labels over the years, each serving as a platform for forward-thinking sounds, long before launching his current imprints Back To Life and Neo Life.

Throughout his career, Giomini has collaborated with a wide range of artists, building lasting connections within the global dance community. Today, he brings together the record shop heritage, the international DJ experience, the producer’s craft and the label manager’s vision into a distinctive voice in electronic music. Rooted in the timeless spirit of classic club culture, his sound channels decades of knowledge and passion into grooves that feel both familiar and fresh, carrying the story of a life lived for the dancefloor.

Focused on the genre’s core elements, each track perfectly balances rhythm, texture and atmosphere while creating a meandering flow of sounds that reflect upon motion and stillness at the same time. Wrapped into a deep-listening experience that invites reflection through movement, “Beyond Structures EP” captures the moment where architecture gives way to emotion, transforming the dancefloor into a meditative space.

Opening, “House Music Statement” lays down choppy bass stabs, dusty drum samples, dubbed-out vocals and swirling hypnotic textures, perfect for late-night sessions. “Kappa Yokai” then leans into a dubbier realm with sweeping ethereal pads, reverberating stabs and weighty subs intertwined with a swinging rhythm section.

Following, “Time And Space Do Not Exist” provides a classic, Detroit-rooted feeling, fusing spoken word chants, crisp drums and an amalgamation of intertwined melodies, while “Out Of Tune” leans into a darker territory led by a trail of meandering synth arrangements flavoured with a scent of nostalgia.

When did the first idea for Beyond Structures take shape and how long did the EP take to complete?

Giomini: The first idea for Beyond Structures began to take shape several years before its final completion. It wasn’t conceived as a pre-planned EP, but as an open exploration of the language of house music, focused on reduction rather than accumulation. The process unfolded in waves, with intense creative moments followed by periods of distance and reflection. It was less about finishing quickly and more about allowing the tracks to mature naturally over time.

Was this EP written with the club, the home listener, or both in mind?

Giomini: Both, but as two connected dimensions rather than separate ones. I’m drawn to that space where a track can translate physically on a sound system while still holding depth for solitary listening. Beyond Structures considers the club as both a physical and mental environment, while leaving room for a more introspective experience when the music is heard alone, especially late at night.

Which track came together the fastest and which one challenged you the most?

Giomini: “House Music Statement” came together quite quickly. The intention behind it was clear from the start and the track found its shape almost instinctively. “Space And Time Do Not Exist” was the most challenging. It’s built around tension, restraint and negative space, and finding the right balance without overworking it required patience and constant adjustment.

You strip house music back to rhythm, texture, and atmosphere here. What do you deliberately leave out?

Giomini: I leave out anything that feels unnecessary or overly descriptive, like obvious melodic hooks, excessive layering and elements that impose a fixed emotional reading. I prefer suggestion over explanation. In that sense, silence and space are just as important as the sounds themselves.

How much of this EP was made intuitively versus carefully planned?

Giomini: Intuition is always where things begin. Most of the tracks started from spontaneous moments, guided by inspiration and physical response rather than a defined concept. Planning comes later, when I focus on structure, pacing and detail. That stage is about discipline, shaping the initial idea without losing its original energy and intent.

What role do soundsystem pressure and low-end play in your production decisions?

Giomini: A very central role. Low-end isn’t just a technical element, it’s physical and emotional. I spend a lot of time on how bass interacts with space and movement rather than how dominant it is. Soundsystem pressure should feel controlled and enveloping, allowing tension to build gradually rather than hitting all at once.

Did any non-musical influences like books, film or philosophy help shape Beyond Structures?

Giomini: Hahaha, I’m sure you don’t want to open that Pandora’s box! I have many passions and everything around me feeds into my work in some way. Ultimately, this EP is shaped by life experiences I’ve had within nightlife culture and beyond. The philosophy behind this kind of music rests on two simple ideas: when music is created, the artist contributes passion, and when it’s shared, the audience completes it with their enthusiasm.

How does this release differ from your previous work in terms of discipline or focus?

Giomini: This is the first EP released under my Giomini alias. Before this, I had only released singles and was mainly focused on other projects such as Marsupials, Abnormal Boyz and A-Man. That alone makes it different from the past. It’s a more complete work, but it doesn’t point toward a fixed direction. My sound is constantly evolving and I don’t want any track to feel like a repetition of the one before.

With Playbeatz, you’re building more than just a label. What’s the main principle that guides what you release through the network?

Giomini: Playbeatz originally started as a network of labels collaborating to support emerging artists and bring new voices forward. Over time, it naturally evolved into an active label, releasing a growing body of house music and related sounds. It’s one of several projects I’m involved in. I also run and curate other labels, including Back To Life, Neo Life (which will release Beyond Structures), ENVLP, CutMyRecords and Musica Per Immagini.

If someone hears Beyond Structures for the first time at 3 am, what do you hope they feel?

Giomini: I hope they feel suspended. Not pushed toward a specific emotion, but open and attentive. I want the music to accompany that moment when time seems to slow down, perception sharpens and everything is reduced to its most essential elements.
