Paularner (Arno & Paul Walter) – Words Of Wisdom EP [Micro Orbit Records]
Arno Völker and Paul Walter, two craftsmen of the European electronic music scene, join forces under the Paularner alias and deliver “Words Of Wisdom EP” on Milan-based label Micro Orbit Records, fusing raw emotions and technical finesse into a unique sound recorded on a timeless vinyl for the purists and the seekers.
Curated by Zenk, the label runs a main vinyl-only series since 2017, which includes inspiring titles from the label head himself alongside La Sabbia collective, Direkt, Vlad Arapasu, Costin Rp, Herck and Yaar Kü, as well as three Various Artists-oriented side ventures, Origins, Pioneer and Voyager featuring artists like Dragomir, RQZ, Vid, Aron, Vern, Fedo, Mihai Pol, RWN and Venda, among others.
Connected by a distinct minimal aesthetic, each track has its own identity and groove, yet flows into an organic and immersive sonic territory defined by stripped-back elements and spiralling tweaks.
The EP opens with the thundering “Narco Dollar Health Care”, where a solid minimalistic percussion merges with a pulsating bass arpeggio filtered through glitched effects and trippy, phased vocal samples, creating a sense of constant tension, perfect for a hypnotic dancefloor experience.
On the flipside, “Dead End” dives deep into darker tones, leaving a haunting vocal sample take lead over a wobbling, uptempo layer of synth fluctuations, while “The Wizz” focuses on bare drums and an alluring background atmosphere in order to create a mystical narrative.
