The next title in Selekt Sounds‘ digital catalogue is brought forward by Johannesburg-based artist MacGyver alongside Fedo on remix duties. Titled “Art Club EP”, the material delivers four tightly wound minimal grooves built with patience and purpose.

The dark and cinematic title track “Art Club” sets the tone with a trippy vocal theme threading through a hypnotic rhythm that never overreaches. At the same time, “Loopy” and “Nocturnal” follow with a similar energy, boosting the whole journey with an organic flow of sounds. Minimal in form, effective in function and made to move the dancefloor. Fedo delivers his signature swing on the remix, unleashing groovy drums, spaced-out textures and a psychedelic synth line that lifts off while the low-end keeps you grounded.

Founded in 2022 by Rupert Wall and based in Brooklyn, New York, Selekt Sounds focuses on exploring the minimal techno and microhouse movement worldwide, publishing inspiring music from renowned and rising artists alike.

“Very often, producers who make remixes run into the same problem: out of the whole multitrack, there’s barely anything interesting to grab onto. My friend Silat Beksi and I even joke about it and call such remixes “a remix on a clap”, because sometimes the original stems are so uninteresting that you literally end up using just a clap or a hi-hat. But working on this track was genuinely exciting. It’s one of those rare cases where the original is actually inspiring, full of key, memorable moments you can build on and reinterpret in your own way. Sergey Fedorov, better known across dancefloors as Fedo, is a producer, DJ and drummer whose sound bridges decades of experimentation and cultural roots. Born in Ukraine to a Greek family and now calling Barcelona home, he’s been immersed in music since 1996, when he first began exploring various instruments, synthesisers and an array of recording formats, from cassettes to vinyl.

His passion and dedication to this craft have led him to present a rich catalogue of original tracks and remixes, released on labels such as Lilas Records, Atrium, Dubøka Records, Artreform, Razom, Inermu Wax, BodyParts, Micro Orbit, Juuz, Chipppy Chasers and Evaporate. Beyond his label work, Fedo continues to shape his own sonic identity through independent releases on Bandcamp, always driven by curiosity, texture and rhythm.

The title track, “Art Club”, began as a provisional name that refused to leave. At its core is a single vocal phrase borrowed from artistic cinema, encircled by the natural fluctuations of analogue tape, a prowling rubber-bridge bassline and precise, tactile percussion. Warm, unhurried house with a pulse you can feel in your chest. “Loopy” leans to a deeper, dustier space. Vintage breaks tumble through endless spring reverb while a bold, rounded sub commands the low end. Sparse pads and crystalline micro-melodies appear and vanish, honouring minimal tradition yet remaining deliberately off-centre.

With “Nocturnal”, the palette shifts. Reverb is pulled back, revealing a stark, authoritative groove and a menacing chord tension. Light-hearted detours, processed vocal artefacts float across the surface, keeping the darkness from taking itself too seriously. A spoken narrative threads through it all, guiding the listener down corridors that feel infinite. For the remix, I have looked up to Fedo for a long time. He has an eloquent way of threading jazzy grooves into hard-hitting minimal tracks, and I am very happy to have him on this EP. He brought in just what was needed, a final thread that sewed it all up.
