After an amazing debut earlier this year with Max Jacobson at the controls and Lizz on remix duties, USA-based record label Hypnodose returns with its second vinyl-only title, this time with Mihai Pol and Silat Beksi on a split EP titled “Hypnocurrency Vol. 1”. The record marks the venture’s first volume of a new Various Artists series focused on pure hypnotic minimalist grooves for the naughty hours. The mastering is signed by Pheek and the artwork by Lidas.

Located in Denver, Hypnodose is curated by Vek Neirbo, who’s widely known for his work in managing labels like Moteur Ville Musique, Vibe Me To The Moon, Eyedyllic Music and Superlux Records, as well as for his extended activity as a DJ, producer and A&R specialist in the international underground electronic music scene.

Mihai Pol opens Side A with “Walking in Chicago”, setting the tone. The track drops a vibrant minimal house sound flavoured with shuffling percussion, meandering pads, a wobbling bassline and twisted vocal cuts that add extra mystery to the whole journey. Silat Beksi follows up with “Roundabout”, delivering a spicy tech house cut that elegantly complements A1 with spiralling effects and high-pitched, heavily modulated vocals, while on the flip, he switches gears to early-nighttime vibes with “Wannabe”, offering a swinging groove perfect for heating the dancefloor at any party.

Closing, “Deep Breath” from Mihai slides into deep house territory, while keeping the tempo up. The reverberating textures lead to melancholy, while the other layers seem to roll in contrast, creating an immersive yet groovy and balanced atmosphere. A highly recommended 12″ right here for vinyl lovers!
