feeder sound exclusive premiere: Fierbințeanu – Merrymaking
“Hope springs eternal! It’s complicated”, orate the electro-punk act Fierbințeanu in their latest cut, “Merrymaking”, presented today exclusively on feeder sound. A bouncy, retro-pop vibe mixed with grunge synth instrumentation and positive, acidic lyrics are the ingredients of this syncopated sonic journey, all packed into a three-minute single.
The mysterious cover artwork is based on a collage by Cristi Mărculescu, while the song was produced and recorded in Brussels. It was also included in the duo’s most recent live performances in the UK, being well received by the present audience, while keeping a mysterious glare around its groove.
Fierbințeanu is an electro-punk band, active in music, sound and video art. Based in Brussels, where they record their future intergalactic velvet entertainment album, Gabriela (vocals, producer) and Cristian (producer, vocals, bass) sail from Bucharest, via Paris, Berlin, Stockholm and Reykjavik. They bring forward introspective love songs about billionaires and monsters, featuring powerful vocal arrangements and electric synth work, all presented with eye-catching visuals and theatrical sound design.
“Merrymaking” is the second single by Fierbințeanu this autumn, after “Women of the World“, released in September. Hope to include these numbers in a future album. – Cristian Fierbințeanu.
It is about this spectacle, “Merrymaking”, with dictators and billionaires and how can one still trust, with stubborn naiveté, that, through song and dance, things could get a tiny little better! But it is not a protest song – explains Cristian Fierbințeanu, citing from the second verse: “I’m so creative, and innovative, take over billionaires! Hope springs eternal! It’s complicated, it’s what dictators can’t bear!”
