Los Angeles-based underground record label theroomintheback returns with another vinyl-only release featuring Canadian artist Jay Tripwire, YKW (You Know What) resident Max Coletto, local talent Luis Lozano and the label’s curator JJ Selects at the controls, delivering a second Various Artists compilation focused on deep and immersive minimal techno music.

Side A opens with the twisted, hypnotic rotations of “Unrealized” by Jay Tripwire, a smoothed-out late-night dancefloor tool delivering a driving rhythm fueled by warped effects and psychedelic movements. Following, Max Coletto’s “Head Gasket” drops an eerie, darker vibe, which dives into dub and experimental as the record spins.

On the flip, JJ Selects’ “Hmm” provides a low-slung and introspective sonic affair where pulsating synths collide with glitched, reverberating vocal samples that add an extra layer of mystery to the whole. Closing, Luis Lozano drops “Chomp”, a vibrant stripped-down cut designed with wobbling basslines, organic percussion and ever-evolving complementary layers.
