Following the success of the first split EP released back in 2017 on Stephan’s label No Waves, Dotan Bibi aka Dot and Stephan Bazbaz return with the second volume on Dot’s newly founded record label Depthful. The mastering is provided by Pheek, and the artwork is signed by Idan Am-Shalem.

When two of Tel Aviv’s most talented electronic music DJs and producers meet, we all know the result is going to be amazing. Split EP Vol. 2 stands as yet another sonic testament to artists’ chemistry and artistry. Designed with a fine touch of sophisticated depth and boundless imagination, the record features Dot on Side A and Stephan Bazbaz on the flip, each delivering two original tracks that intersect in a space where minimal house and deep house smoothly blend with subtle dub and acid influences, creating an organic flow.

The journey opens with “Hoag’s Object” balancing the pulsating energy of house with the relaxed, spatial vibes of dub. Expect a steady-paced rhythm flavoured with tight congas to elegantly merge with a deep, rolling bassline and wobbling acidic synth lines that establish a rich foundation for the track. Following, “Fading Fast” takes the vibe deeper, laying out rich textures, resonating bass frequencies and a rhythm section which feels almost submerged, like you’re hearing it from underwater. The inclusion of short, scattered vocal samples adds an extra layer of intrigue and emotional depth, without pulling focus from the track’s atmospheric core.

Flip the record and we first find “Overload”, a dreamy composition powered by sharp, punchy drums, a pulsating bassline that stands out as the main driving force of the track and warm background atmospheres that create an immersive feeling. The emotional charge is transferred to “Better in Space”, which closes the EP with a spatial sound that feels expansive and intimate at the same time, as the enveloping groove pulls you inward while taking you out there, in a daydream made of deep vibrations.
