Previously known as Anddie, Romanian DJ and producer Andrei Pietrareanu presents his latest project, “Road Home” EP, under his fresh moniker St. Andrew. Focused on the live aspects of electronic music, the material is released via the artist’s freshly founded label All for the best, with the mastering being signed by Sven Weisemann and the artwork by Elie.

Andrei discovered his passion for electronic music during his college years, immersing himself in Bucharest’s underground scene each weekend before deciding to actively join the movement. Over time, he stood behind the decks at various underground events and radio shows across the country while dropping some of his productions via Hello Strange, Tanapa Records, Dinsubsol, Concept, Dub Techno TV, Apnea and Report. He also participated in our feeder sound open calls for DJs and producers, winning 3rd place in 2021’s edition of digitizArte with his track “Under”.

“I always wanted a home for my tracks. A place with no boundaries where I can show people every musical aspect of myself. After a couple of years, my idea came to life. That’s how my label “All for the best” was born. I picked up this name because it’s a personal motto of mine, and it has helped me in many moments throughout life. The album that I decided to release is “Road Home”, and it’s a special one for me, not only because it’s my first album for the label, but because it’s like a life story of myself. A story about getting lost in the moment, before finding the road home.” – St. Andrew

Opening the EP, “Faded Memories” lays out a warm, introspective sound designed with steady-paced drumming patterns, melancholic chords and subtle but elegant grainy effects, making the composition feel like the perfect soundtrack for daydreaming moments.

Following, the title track “Road Home” slides into dub territory while maintaining A1’s feeling and introducing the genre’s specific expanded atmospherics to which a compelling vocal message is added in order to reinforce the EP’s concept. Next, “Reflecting to the past” highlights the graininess and delivers a meditative sound powered by broken beats and weaving background textures, while “Still searching” concludes the material with a deep ambient cut made for relaxation and contemplation.
