This Friday we invite you to dive deep into minimal music with Australian artist Katharine at the controls.

Hailing from Melbourne, Katharine is a talented selector and co-owner of modern electronic music label and party series Motion:Theory alongside Ben Abrahams, friends and collaborators for quite some time now. Since she established the first trip-hop section at HMV Brisbane Mall back in 1995, she’s been constantly involved in Australia’s underground scene, having spent severeal years mixing as a resident DJ at venues like Billinudgel Pub and Elsewhere Bar, with her most recent endeavours being strongly connected with Killing Time Bar and Fiftyfive club and art space.

Katharine‘s musical journey along the Australian East Coast consistently influenced the continent’s scene while going well beyond the Southern Hemisphere. Her eclectic selections of house, techno and minimal can easily be adjusted to both clubs and outdoor settings, as she appreciates music which alludes to the transcendent with a gentle yet powerful personal touch. Her unique vision and technique elevates and deeply satisfies at both sunset and sunrise, creating a lush experience for the dancefloor. Among her recent sonic explorations we also find an amazing ambient mix for Shared Frequency podcast series curated by Common Ancestors (Bristol, United Kingdom), recorded live at Sacred Sound Summit.

With support from Brooklyn-based venture Selekt Sounds run by Rupert Wall, Katharine also hosts the Selekt Sessions podcast series which so far counts six episodes featuring Fedo, Ben Abrahams, Ali Demir, mtps, Valeria Croft and Last Pines.

“I have been playing a lot of records, but sometimes we just don’t have the music we want to play pressed on vinyl. It’s especially hard in Australia to get records, we are just so far away! This mix is a collection of digital music which just flowed together in a spontaneous session. I love the deep, unusual yet homogenous groove, and it reflects the mysterious psychedelic minimal sound I love to immerse myself in… and deliver to others.” – Katharine

feeder sound 442 mixed by Katharine delivers a solid dose of low-slung minimal techno and microhouse grooves, with a pinch of psychedelic. The selection creates an organic flow fueled by immersive rhythms and textures, carefully picked in order to make anyone dive into a mysterious yet serene state of mind, where music becomes a medium for energy to interact with the mind, body and soul. Enjoy with the volume up!

As life has its ups and downs and balance is most important, Katharine still fights cancer while taking care of her children, aside from her sonic adventures. With chemotherapy and radiotherapy out of the question, she undertakes natural and holistic treatments which involve a strict diet, consuming Ganoderma mushroom tea, CBD oil and Vitamin C, along with having a positive mindset. Find out more about her story and feel free to contribute to her gofundme campaign. Love & Power! ❤️
