RH1 – Kamino [TON TON]

After a successful debut with “Traces of the wind” LP by Petre Inspirescu, Romanian venture TON TON returns with its second release in the form of “Kamino” LP by RH1, a mysterious moniker used by Robert Precup of Livio & Roby and Premiesku.

The album is available in both vinyl and digital formats, featuring nine tracks that blend deep basslines, melodic textures, and experimental electronics into a personal sonic journey. Here, RH1 crafts immersive soundscapes that drift between emotion and abstraction, offering a sound that’s intimate, cinematic, and infused with a sense of upward-looking hopefulness.

With almost two decades of activity in both local and international electronic music scenes, Roby has numerous achievements under his belt, from memorable performances and timeless releases, to well-known projects like his collaboration with Livio as Livio & Roby and with the duo plus George Gavanescu aka Floog as Premiesku. Over time, his music – solo works or collaborative compositions – has been published by labels like Atipic, Desolat, Cécille Numbers, Vakant, Drumma, Mulen, All Inn Records, 20:20 Vision, Rawax, UVAR and the duo’s own venture Tier, to name just a few.

The LP opens with “Timpan” setting the tone, laying out lush textures and warm rhythmic pulsations that smoothly blend with experimental arrangements and glitchy insertions that invite the listener to dive into an introspective sonic affair that’s elegantly complemented by the following tracks, “Selenar” and “Threshold”. Here, the pulse becomes a beat and all the layers become a spiralling algorhythm full of emotions and cinematic fluctuations on the frequency scales. Following, “Interludiu” drops the tempo, creating a moment of stillness designed with reversed harmonics and a psychedelic edge.

Next up, “Awake” opens new musical horizons with its melancholic yet alert vibe, creating tension out of phased vocals, only to slide into the telluric textures and offbeat vibrations of “Enter”, signalling a shift in energy and melodic depth. “Crusher” comes up next, displaying a darker sound motif fueled by driving beats, eerie pads and heavily modulated vocal samples, while “Varia” dives deeper into the feeling, clearing out the murkiness and rendering a contemplative piece based on textural expansion. Closing, “Heart of the aspects” summons the emotional core of the album’s conceptual arc, delving into ambient, breakbeat and IDM influences.
