After dispatching “Spectral Processor” EP on Moonrover Records‘ digital division in March, local artist Barac returns to the vinyl side of the label with “Inhale, Exhale, Remember To Breath” EP alongside Prt Stacho and Endemica on remix duties. The mastering is provided by Rob Small and the sleeve design by Artleks.
Operating as a digital and vinyl label while running an ongoing podcast series, Moonrover Records is dedicated to publishing inspiring minimal techno, deep techno and microhouse music, featuring releases from Daniel Broesecke, Chris Llopis, Daniel Meister, Barac, Ollie Ballyn, Bryz and label head Prt Stacho.
Romanian artist Barac crafts more than music, creating mythical soundscapes that are dense with symbols, emotions, and spiritual resonance. Like a modern-day shaman, he guides listeners through an introspective path, where the beat becomes breath and the melody becomes meaning.
His music, independently released on his labels like Moment Records and Shamandrum, is not precisely made to entertain, but to initiate, to unsettle the surface mind and reveal deeper symbolic layers, with deep, dark and subtle tones, mapping sound as inner myth.
Barac’s sound blends tribal motifs, eerie textures and experimental insertions with surgical minimalism. Each release feels like a symbolic initiation — a sonic re-enactment of the hero’s journey itself: separation, descent, revelation, return.
Aside from his own ventures and independent online releases, among the labels he collaborated with we find Blue, Yecad, Adam’s Bite, Drumma, r.hitect, UVAR, Lick My Deck, Rawax, Meander, Pressure Traxx, OdD Music, Naural, Metereze, Midi Records, Raru Movement, Hidden Dimension and Berg Audio.
Inhale. Exhale. Remember to breathe. In that rhythm lies the pulse of being, the ancient echo of stars from which we are made. Breathing is the bridge between the inner cosmos and the outer void. When you breathe, you testify to existence itself: “I am.” The Moonrover – a child of reason – abandoned on the cold, dead Moon. It does not feel time, know fear, or comprehend solitude. But a human, in its place, would understand: silence is not emptiness. It is a mirror. And in that mirror arises the question: “If I am alone, and silence is infinite, who hears my breath?” The answer lies in the breath. Each inhale is a resistance against entropy. Each exhale is an act of remembrance. To breathe is to remember that you are not just part of the Universe, you are its awakened part. And just as the Moonrover crawls across grey lunar plains, driven by an unknown purpose, so do you move through life, led by an inner light, until you realise, breath is not just life. It is a prayer sent into silence. And if you can hear it, you are alive.
The title track “Inhale, Exhale, Remember To Breath” unfolds as a meditative sonic journey, opening the EP with a methodical pulse of 129 BPM which incorporates precise instuctions of how to breathe, elegantly intertwinded with a warm, rolling bassline, minimalist percussive patterns and reverberated chords that drift in and out of focus, creating a hypnotic rhythm that merges with a cosmic atmosphere. Prt Stacho‘s remix lowers the tempo and expands the narrative, reworking the core structure into a dub-tinged, subsonic drift. Murky percussion and a heavier, low-end presence lend it a dancefloor-ready gravity, all while maintaining the introspective tone and atmospheric depth of the original composition.
On the flip, “We Are Getting Closer Again” introduces a subtle syncopation to the percussion patterns, drawing the listener inward with a consistent vocal sample that echoes throughout the whole journey, all while the focus falls upon the background textures. Keeping to the EP’s introspective theme, Endemica‘s remix rounds things out with crystalline hi-hats, sparkling percussive fractures and reversed chords that shimmer like distant stars, transforming the foundation into an ethereal soundscape.
