Icelandic artists Ezeo and KrBear team up once again, bringing forward “Shower Capsules EP” on Brooklyn-based label Selekt Sounds alongside Leftback Records’ frontman Mortalyf on remix duties. Marking the 11th entry in the imprint’s catalogue, the material delivers a super groovy, stripped-down minimal sound, with each track being deep, playful and full of personality.

Ezeo is a driving force in Iceland’s dynamic electronic music movement. While his home nation carries a unique identity, his passion lies in fostering global connections through sound, a universal desire that fuels his creative journey. As the founder of Pan Panic .rec, DeepWit Recordings and The Purr, as well as the organiser of YZTA Festival, Sofa & Beasts, Sarcaztic Plaztic and Pangae Nights, he continues to shape the underground scene with unwavering dedication. He’s also the mind behind VIBES, a collective that became a staple in Iceland’s top club circuit. Despite its members spreading across Europe, the group maintains a strong presence on the Nordic island with a dedicated radio show on the underground station XTRA.

In 2017, Ezeo relocated to Berlin, performing at various clubs and building a solid arsenal of club-ready tracks and remixes released across multiple labels. Close by was Poland, where he spent four years as part of the organising team behind the Summer Contrast Festival, while also performing regularly as a resident artist.

KrBear is a Reykjavík-based DJ and producer known for his flamboyant style rooted in minimal house and techno. Born in 1989 in Garðabær, Iceland, he spent over a decade crafting a unique sound built upon groove, playfulness and emotional depth, always bringing a spark of surprise to the dancefloor. In 2015, he joined the VIBES collective as a co-founder, becoming a pillar of Iceland’s underground dance music scene.

From packed club nights across the island to standout international gigs in Berlin, Barcelona, Poland and Oslo, KrBear delivers sets that connect instantly with the crowd. Over time, he shared the decks with artists like Kerri Chandler, Anja Schneider, Shaun Reeves, Gescu, Nu Zau, GusGus, Chad Andrew, Ali Demir, Andrey Pushkarev, Luca Donzelli, Nitin, Lars Moston, Kevin Knapp and Smash TV, while his productions were published independently on Bandcamp or in collaboration with labels like Pan Panic .rec, Not Allowed and Fragments.

Opening the release, the title track “Shower Capsules” lays out a mesmerising stripped-down groove powered by clean percussion patterns, swirling watery textures and resonant pads, flawlessly setting the deep yet playful tone of the EP. Following, “Cinnamorning” keeps to the tempo while introducing warm melodic motifs smoothly intertwined with shuffling drums and evolving pads, underpinning a soothing yet dynamic rhythmic movement.

The original take on “Easy Matters” leans into slick minimal aesthetics through subtle synth stabs, gentle low-end pulses and an overall airy progression, creating a refined, late‑night dancefloor vibe, while Mortalyf‘s remix is fueled by low-slung percussion and a subterranean bass that blend with dark tones and effects that can easily take the listener into an introspective sonic journey.

Selekt Sounds was founded in 2022 by Rupert Wall with a mission to explore and promote distinct underground electronic music from all over the world. The label’s digital collection was launched with a Various Artists compilation, followed by inspiring EPs from Maxseltram, Rotty, Papilla, Mendoza, Lynaa, Andrus, Easterle Paolini, Modebaku and Rupert himself. Among the artists in charge of the remixes, we find Guy From Downstairs, Sasta, Paul Walter, Rares Romanov, Hendriks Toth, TIJN, Nektar Agu, Herck and Vermeil. Recently, the venture released its first vinyl-only title in the Selekt Wax series via deejay.de with local artist Dragomir at the controls.
