Alexandru Petre Oprea, or shortly Alex Oprea, is a DJ, producer, sound engineer, label head at Advisual Records and Melatune Records, as well as 1/2 of the Quantifiq duo. Guided by his cousin, who was already working as a DJ, he started his musical journey in Argeș county around 2007, quickly gathering an impressive collection of music spanning various genres and immersing himself in studying different mixing techniques. This made him become a resident in over a dozen nightclubs in Romania and travel across Europe, sharing his positive vibes and distinct style behind the decks with thousands of partygoers all over the continent.

Encouraged by friends upon his homecoming, Alex ventured into music production, which found its way onto the playlists of many local electronic music DJs, expanding his horizons even more and making him specialise as a sound engineer at SAE Bucharest, an effort that only intensifies his passion for music. From that point forward, his artistic journey only gained momentum.

In 2020, together with his good friend Teo, he brought forward the Quantifiq project with releases on Welter, Intelligent Sound, Resonance, Micro Division, Rominimal Collective and Eleutheria Records, giving the audience something different from everything they’ve had the opportunity to hear, a sound that blends minimalism with bold, unconventional textures, breaking away from the predictable. In the summer of 2022, he founded Advisual Records and its sublabel Melatune, aiming to promote a diverse and innovative selection of underground music from Romania and beyond. Aside from inspiring releases from artists like Juan Peinado, Madu, K-lil, Chris Piece, Claudio Solis, Sakdat, Balaur, Techu, Anaid, Herck, Jack Cheler, Never Alone In A Dark Room, Spiri:tual, Felix and Radu Mirica, the labels also operate an ongoing podcast series, act as a booking agency and provide video production and graphic design services for artists all over the world.
