Vinyl Speed Adjust – Hypnotizin EP (w. Matt Thibideau & Oleg Makovskiy remixes) [Lok Records]
Lok Records announces the 2nd entry in their LOK Black series to arrive soon at selected record stores worldwide, featuring Romanian duo Vinyl Speed Adjust alongside Matt Thibideau and Oleg Makovskiy on remix duties. Titled “Hypnotizin EP”, the record delivers a solid combination of minimal techno, dub techno and deep techno, while adding extra flavour to the imprint’s side venture, which debuted early this year with “Luminus EP” signed by For.at (Veruh and Hummus Hernand) and backed up by Barac, who provided a trippy reinterpretation of the title track.
With 15+ years of activity in both local and international music scenes, it’s really nice to see Vinyl Speed Adjust (Andrei Predoi and Claudiu Balan) experimenting with new sounds and genres. Although they always pushed the boundaries of house, techno and minimal, this EP is different and it hits hard. Matt and Oleg also contribute, enhancing the concept with their distinctive sonic signature.
Aside from their own ventures, VSA Records and Crystal Structures, the duo also published their music through labels like Natural Rhythm, BodyParts, Gilesku Records, Pressure Traxx, Animae, Moral Fiber, Hourglass, Inwave, Drumma, Visionquest and Pleasure Zone, among others.

Side A opens with “Acid Storm”, a hypnotic groove fueled by steady-paced drumming patterns, resonant background atmospheres, spiralling effects and a pulsating dubby bassline that feels more like a presence than a sound. An ideal tool for late-night sets, no doubt. Next up, “Black Mololith” reveals a stripped-down composition designed with metallic vocal clangs in focus, faint pads and swinging drums, perfect for dimly lit dancefloors.
On the flipside we find two remixes of A1 signed by Matt Thibideau and Oleg Makovskiy. B1 is airy and dubby, taking the original into a spacious sonic dimension that creates a feeling of constant motion within stillness, while B2 delivers an acidic vibe, powered by shimmering drums, slow-burning bassline pulsations, phased chords and echoing vocals. Time stretches and dissolves. You’re no longer on the dancefloor, you’re in the sound, on an inward journey.
