Just_Me – Backspin EP (w. Harry Wills remix) [Interkom Records]

Berlin-based artist Just_Me launches the vinyl side of his new imprint Interkom Records with “Backspin EP” alongside Harry Wills on remix duties. The material delivers an inspiring combination of house, tech house, electro, breakbeat and garage, laying a strong foundation for the label’s sonic identity, which was established to reflect the artist’s evolving sound and vision with full creative freedom.

With over a decade of intense activity in the international underground electronic music scene, Just_Me has steadily grabbed the attention of top selectors and labels, always delivering top-notch grooves. Aside from his memorable DJ sets and releases, he’s also a certified sound engineer and owner of RV Audio, offering mixing and mastering services for artists worldwide, as well as a co-owner at Retrospect and coast2coast. Among the labels he published some of his music with, we find Limited Records, Sobriquet, Handcrafted Label, Floorpiece, EWax, Mumble, Cedesciu Wax, Kanja Records, Berg Audio and Tied.

Side A opens with “Spare Beat”, an uplifting composition fueled by electrifying sounds that channel the early ’90s house and garage energy through tight percussion, a rolling bassline, twisted pads, echoing vocal samples and precise breakdowns. Following, “Inner Circle” goes deeper into UK‑influenced grooves, laying out an inspiring blend of shuffling drums, warm sub-bass tones and melodic motifs that evoke clubbing nights, perfectly balancing movement and atmosphere.

On Side B we have the title track “Backspin” and Harry Wills‘ reinterpretation. The original is designed to be a straight dancefloor sweeper, with punchy drumming patterns that smoothly merge with a wobbling bassline, spiralling synths and subtle dubby textures that come together like a retro arcade soundtrack infused with high-octane club energy. The remix amps up the original with an even tighter bounce, going full breakbeat. With a sonic drive rooted in old-school jungle music, Wills concludes the EP with style, emphasising the fact that this 12″ is indeed a must-have for vinyl collectors, selectors and electronic music enthusiasts alike.
