London-based label, radio and events platform SHIBUI returns to its digital playground on Bandcamp with a steaming four-tracker signed by up-and-coming artist Lucas alongside Romanian DJ and producer Dumitrescu on remix duties. Titled “Girlz Only EP”, the material provides an uplifting combination of house and tech house grooves designed for the dancefloor, while it also adds extra spice to the imprint’s expanding catalogue, which so far has published two Various Artists compilations and EPs from artists like Panno, Eluse and Johnny Hulus.

From playing at renowned Northern clubs such as Sankeys and MiNT to Southern venues like Starlane and The Goose, Manchester-born Lucas aka Luke Gordon is steadily building a name for himself in the UK’s underground scene, constantly polishing his skills behind the decks and in the studio. You can hear some of his releases on his Bandcamp page and Just Fish Wax imprint.

While the original take on “Microlilly” delivers an uplifting tech house vibe designed with microhouse elements suitable for peak-time moments, Dumitrescu‘s remix switches gears for an old-school sound flavoured with electro and acid influences, aiming for the same dancefloor potential of the groove but with a twist. The other two cuts, “Girlz Only” and “Check, Mate” are equally powerful, laying out vibrant basslines, thumping drums, swinging vocal samples and meandering background textures that can make anyone start moving their body in seconds.

Since his 2020 debut on Atipic, Dumitrescu has regularly made appearances behind the decks alongside established names in the minimal and microhouse movement, while publishing memorable audio works via Particular, Midas Touch, Unutrei, Organic Society and Myriad Records.
