Sublee – Personal Universal [Hubble Recordings]
Portuguese label Hubble Recordings returns to its vinyl series with the 6th EP, this time featuring Romanian artist Sublee with three original tracks. Titled “Personal Universal”, the record highlights the artist’s distinct take on electronic music and adds extra flavour to the venture’s catalogue, which so far has published timeless music from Octave, Alex Pervukhin, Miroloja, Costin Rp, Kaesar, Yuda, Bucurie, Lukea, Coriesu and Primarie, among others.
Hailing from Bucharest, Sublee is widely known for his ability to blend elements of house, techno and minimal into energetic and immersive DJ sets and productions. With a solid career in both local and international scenes, he’s recognised for creating unique atmospheres, combining deep beats with hypnotic grooves. Aside from numerous independent releases on Bandcamp and “1st Dance” EP dispatched through his own playground Density Records in 2021, in time he collaborated with publishers like Metereze, Baumbaum Label, Serialism, AnaloQ Musik, Morning People, Meander, Contemporan, Atipic, No Time For Love, Rawax and Hashplant, to name only a few.
Side A is reserved for the Hard Edit of “Dragapella”, a thundering groove fueled by punchy drumming patterns, a heavily modulated bassline that resembles the sound of a didgeridoo, trippy background elements and extended breakdowns focused on hypnotic vocal samples that call for a dance.
On the flipside, both tracks exhibit the same level of energy while having different vibes. “Simple One” is designed with looping synth stabs that have a particular electro influence embedded into them and a catchy drum layer laced with filtered vocal textures, creating a rhythm that evokes the clubbing experience. Closing the EP, “Laculesdesample” hits hard with its 130 bpm, laying out a driving sound focused on the percussion and intermittent samples that reverberate throughout the whole journey.
