Dru – Unlikely Possibilities (w. Constratti & Giuliano Lomonte remixes) [Totoyov]
Brazilian label Totoyov is back with a new identity and its fourth vinyl release featuring label co-owner Dru alongside local artist Constratti and Giuliano Lomonte on remix duties. Titled “Unlikely Possibilities”, the material delivers an amazing combination of breakbeat, microhouse and deep house perfect for peak-time moments or afternoon sessions at any party.
The record’s artwork is created by the talented Juliette Siraj, a French artist with synesthesia, a rare condition that allows her to see colours and shapes while listening to music. Each of her paintings is a visual translation of the sounds she perceives. For this release, Juliette painted while immersing herself in the EP’s tracks, transforming the sonic experience into a unique design.
Founded by Arthus in 2015, Totoyov is a beacon for top-quality electronic music, connecting established and emerging artists worldwide. Among those who worked with the label we find Martelli, Max Jacobson, Pinto, Jos Lok, Bread&Butter, NAAiV, Jack Cheler, Duc In Altum, Vincent Casanova, Nicolas Barnes, Ali Demir, Minube, Jacobo Saavedra, Emiliano Martini, Vern and Petit Batou, to name only a few.
The two originals, “Frutas Rojas” and “Unlikely Possibilities” share a common vibe powered by intricate broken beats, lush atmospheres, grungy basslines and colourful chords that can make anyone start dancing in seconds while keeping an introspective feeling.
Sao Paulo-based DJ and producer Dru is also involved in managing Totoyov and Microdots Records, always dropping intriguing minimal techno and microhouse for the people. Aside from his ventures he also collaborated with Satya Records, Borderless Project, Micronica Records, Magnetic, Intelligent Sound, Tamiras and Metronome Records, among others.
The remixes complete the record with their powerful and refined touches on A2 and B2, delivering a perfect combination of meticulously crafted drums, instruments and groove that will keep you engaged. Constratti and Giuliano Lomonte provide classic 4/4 reinterpretations with a subtle but driving dubby touch, creating deep soundscapes for the dancefloor.
