Max Jacobson – Soul Lift EP (w. Lizz Remix) [Hypnodose]
The first record coming from the freshly founded label Hypnodose is announced to drop in selected record stores worldwide on March 28th. Titled “Soul Lift EP”, the 12″ showcases three hypnotic original cuts signed by Chicago’s house music icon Max Jacobson and one pumping remix by Romanian artist Lizz.
Based in Denver USA and curated by Vek Neirbo, the imprint aims to deliver top-quality minimal house and techno releases while connecting rising and established artists with electronic music enthusiasts all over the world. It’s definitely a nice surprise to see Max teaming up with Lizz for the first chapter of this sonic journey and pave the path for the upcoming happenings.
Max Jacobson is also half of Ciphr alongside Christian Thomas, our guests for session no. 316 of our ongoing podcast series, while Lizz recently dropped “Intoxicated EP“ as part of feeder sound digital series on Bandcamp.
Side A opens with “Missing”, an uplifting dub-infused groove powered by reverberating pads that smoothly complement warm atmospheric fluctuations and tight breathing moments, while “Communication Breakdown” follows up with a deep psychedelic vibe, perfect for peak-time moments on the dancefloor. The twisted arpeggios and waving effects slowly evolve into an enveloping composition for the body, mind and soul.
On Side B, the title track “Soul Lift” delivers a swinging rhythm designed with funky deep house elements that constantly build tension, spiralling into an immersive experience rooted in tech house. Lizz switches gears with his reinterpretation, taking the original into a grungy direction fueled by breakbeat and electro flavours.
