Dot – The Setting Of The Sunrise EP [Depthful]

Dotan Bibi aka Dot launches his own record label Depthful with “The Setting Of The Sunrise EP”, an inspiring collection of four tracks that resonate with both the mind and body, creating an auditory experience that transports listeners to a deeper state of being. Dedicated to exploring the vibrant and immersive world of house and techno music, the imprint aims to publish releases from Dot himself, close friends and other artists who share the same style and vision.

Based in Tel Aviv, Israel, Dot is always looking to create fresh sounds and loves to spend a lot of time in his home studio, playing with all sorts of analog gear. His first project surfaced in 2005 when, alongside his friend Mickey Sharon, he released two EPs on the German label Sub Static under the name Mike & Dot. Following a solo career path afterwards, he collaborated with ventures like Unfoundsound, Gluckskind, Legotek, Moon Harbour, Seven Music, Thema, No Waves, Rackmizar, Heisenberg, Toolkit, Outlaw and MixCult.

Side A opens with the title track “The Setting Of The Sunrise”, a vibrant composition designed with wobbling pads, ethereal atmospheres, echoing vocals and steady-paced drumming patterns that create a perfect balance between movement and reflection. Following, “That Place” picks up the energy from A1 and delivers a warm sound, elegantly crafted with house and dub influences that drive the rhythm forward with an infectious groove and lush chords.

On the flip we first find “Past And Future”, a captivating, deep and dubby track that immerses listeners in a rich atmospheric soundscape. Designed with a pulsating bassline that smoothly intertwines with resonant complementary layers, the cut evokes moments of introspection and exploration. Closing the EP, “Hide & Seek” drops playful breaks and deep basslines that create an engaging and dynamic listening experience.
