In times of social and political unrest, music has always been a powerful tool for unity, resistance and change. Today, as students across Serbia raise their voices in the fight for justice, democracy and a brighter future, the music community stands in solidarity with them. BUNT presents “Rhythms of Revolution”, a compilation that’s more than just a collection of tracks, it’s a sonic manifesto, a reflection of the energy, passion and courage of the young people demanding a society built on truth, freedom and dignity.

Coming from diverse backgrounds, genres and generations while being united by the purpose of amplifying the voices of the students and inspiring others to join the movement, Andrew Meller, Belik, Bosko Balos, Caligari, CVTKVC, Dakman, Djordje Bastovanovic, Dujak, Estray, Mancha, Gard, Jan Nemecek, KEYRI, Knower, KovaK, Layzie, Lipelis, Cosmic G, Luton, Mancha, Mark Funk, Marko Hollywood, Mene, Nadezda, pION, Predictive Logistics, Roxa, Scepa, Shimammo, Shoxy, Teo Trunk, Tijamara and Marko Nastic team up for an inspiring soundtrack in support with those who are taking to the streets.

This is what Marko Nastic has to say about what’s going on: “After the tragedy on November 1st – just one of many that have devastated our country as a direct consequence of corruption and the failure of the system – the students managed to awaken a population that has been silent and suffering for far too long. Some of us have been protesting for 30 years, and we remember the music scene’s involvement against the system. And I’m not talking about weak, half-hearted support, like posting a few Instagram stories. I’m talking about real, open support that identifies those responsible and exposes their actions. The music compilation “BUNT” is just one contribution from the DJ scene, one way to support the student protests and their demands. Through our work, by doing what we do best, we aim to raise awareness and show the world what’s really happening. When we came up with the idea for the compilation, we had to act quickly. We managed to complete everything in just five days. So far, Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 have been released and Vol. 3 is currently in the works.”

One of the most influential DJs and producers from South-Eastern Europe, Marko Nastic has spent nearly two decades shaping the underground electronic music scene. With over 200 releases, including original productions, remixes and collaborations, he performed at major festivals and events worldwide while managing multiple record labels such as Recon Warriors, Recon Light, Traffica Records and Easy Tiger.

In December 2023 we had the chance to meet with Marko in Belgrade and talk more about music and everything happening at that moment in Serbia. Some beautiful memories include discovering new record stores and listening to unreleased productions. Our featured track for today, “Becky Boise”, delivers an uplifting groove powered by pulsating synths, spiralling effects and swinging broken beats, adding extra flavour to an inspiring VA that showcases a diverse and genuine sound.
