George Heerd – Transition EP [Myriad Records]

Local artist and half of the Heerd duo, George Olaru aka George Heerd presents his 2nd solo vinyl release titled “Transition EP” with the British record label Myriad Records, delivering 4 solid tracks that explore an uplifting combination of minimal techno, tech house, minimal house and downtempo. The UK-based imprint debuted last year with “Strange Exchange” Various Artists compilation featuring Lose Endz, V.I.C.A.R.I., Stoi and LoLo.

George Heerd is well-known in the international electronic music scene for being part of the Romanian breakthrough duo Heerd alongside Ionut Stroe aka John Heerd, always delivering memorable DJ sets and timeless releases. Previous solo works include productions brought forward by UVAR, Stomping Grounds and Storytellers.

Side A opens with the title track “Transition”, a steady-paced composition powered by shuffling drumming patterns, a wobbly bassline and groovy deep house and dub insertions that add extra flavour to the whole journey. Next up, “Back2Back” reveals a more techy and acidic vibe, perfect for peak time moments at any party.

“From my early beginnings, experimenting with sounds and beats for years, to now releasing music on vinyl was indeed a great journey which I think will never stop.”

On Side B we first find “Poetry”, a tuned-down cut designed with jazzy elements, nostalgic piano notes and twisted background layers while “Cashmere” closes the EP with style, revealing an ethereal downtempo arrangement fueled by dubby chords and introspective atmospheres.
