feeder sound exclusive premiere: Herck – Ass Umption EP (incl. Dudley Strangeways & Mortalyf Remix) [Leftback Records]
After a short break from its main series, Leftback Records returns with Herck at the controls delivering “Ass Umption EP” with label honchos Dudley Strangeways and Mortalyf on remix duties. The material adds extra spice to the imprint’s discography which counts several timeless releases in both vinyl and digital formats signed by the usual roster alongside friends from all over the world.
Well-known for its low-slung and stripped-down minimal style, Leftback Records stands out as a beacon for top-notch electronic music in the UK, always delivering the vibes with each release, podcast or event, since 2014.
An established name in the scene, Herck is known for his dark, experimental sound, deeply rooted in minimal techno, microhouse, ambient and beyond. Throughout time he collaborated with labels like Mezin, Curtea Veche, Muted Noise, Roche Madame, Melodeum and Botta Records, among many others.
“As we roll into 10 years of releases on Leftback Records we thought of no better way to celebrate the occasion with an EP from our good friend Herck. We’ve been itching to release this EP as it has been a few years in the making. We took a step back from releasing on the Leftback main label to focus on our digital sub-label Leftback Intercities but now we’re back with a bang with a new record from one of our favourites!”
Expect our featured track “Lykdis” to hit a mystic rotation that dives deep into experimental, laying out trippy sounds perfect to use as a tool for intricate DJ sets. The other tracks, “Queen Machida” and “La Ventura”, wave around, revealing ethereal atmospheres and unique combinations ready for dimly lighted dancefloors early in the morning. The remix follows to deliver, as expected, uplifting and grouchy.
