Cosmjn & Lizz – RADI001 [Radial Records]
Romanian artists Cosmjn and Lizz team up, showcasing the first release coming from their freshly founded label Radial Records. The concept has been on both of their minds for quite a while and now it’s time for the project to emerge and make waves as the first three releases will be focused on their own productions. RADI001 delivers four tracks, two from each artist, incorporating an amazing combination of minimal, house, electro and breaks, with the mastering made by Vlad Caia and the artwork signed by Noetic.
One of the most appreciated and inspirational duos from Romania, Cosmjn and Lizz have been part of Sunrise and Sunwaves roster since 2017, with their chemistry behind the decks and in the studio based on a strong friendship for over ten years and a shared, intense desire to explore and redefine the depths of minimal and house music. This EP makes no exception from what you’re accustomed to hearing from them.
The record opens with Cosmjn’s “Touchstrip”, an uplifting tech house cut flavoured with relentless drumming patterns, raw synth stabs as complementary layers and carefully placed breathing moments, while “Systems” offers a rather different vibe, diving deep into breakbeat and dark themes, closing the journey with style and a subtle message to convey.
Based in Iași, Cosmin Năstasă aka Cosmjn entered the electronic music scene in 2008, with his productions and DJ sets steadily gaining traction by 2015, when his breakthrough came as he toured across Europe, Australia, Asia and the Americas, establishing himself as one of Romania’s standout artists.
Fusing house and techno, his sound blends textured minimal, bass-heavy breaks and impeccable mixing skills, earning him spots on labels like Atipic, Subtil, RORA, Sono Unica, PlayedBy and Eastenderz. A staple at major festivals such as Sunwaves and Electric Castle, he also performs at top-tier venues like Fabric, Watergate and Hoppetosse, solidifying his status as a key figure in the evolution of the local scene.
A2 and B1 are provided by Lizz, with “Future” dropping a pumping tool highlighted by mysterious vocal samples, wobbling basslines and sublime tension-building sequences perfect for the dancefloor at peak-time moments, while “Restore Your Fear” slides into funky house vibes and mellow tones focused on the percussive elements.
Hailing from Cluj-Napoca, Petre Vali aka Lizz, discovered electronic music at the age of 15, sparking a deep passion for mixing and production. Known for his releases on imprints like PlayedBy, Music is Art, Eastenderz, Sleep is Commercial, Atipic, Rawax, Windmuhle, Moment and Hashplant, he gained international recognition with energising local gigs and memorable tours across North America, Australia and South America.
His versatile style ranges from dark, introspective tones to vibrant dancefloor tracks. Notably, his “Chapter 1” and “Chapter 2” releases strongly represent his storytelling approach to music. Since joining the Sunrise agency in 2016, he become a regular at top festivals like Sunwaves, Mioritmic and Electric Castle, combined with gigs across major cities including Berlin, Paris, London and Barcelona, thus solidifying his global presence.
