Sonet announces its 9th vinyl-only instalment to arrive at selected record stores worldwide, featuring Romanian artists Ciprian Stan and Cipo on “Sonet Music 09” EP. Designed with intricate and groovy minimal and house influences, the record adds extra spice to the label’s discography which includes timeless music signed by artists like Gruia, Olivier Romero, Rares Romanov, Ckb, Dudley Strangeways, Mortalyf, Denis Andreev and Root. The 12″ already enjoys early support from Arapu, Lumieux, Direkt, VincentIulian, Massud Matin and userUNKNWN.
DJs, producers and collaborators, both Ciprian Stan and Cipo are well-known figures in the Romanian underground electronic music scene and no strangers to the international community, having worked with various promoters and record labels. Throughout time Cipiran released his music on Minimalaysia, Body Parts, Yarn, PianoForest, The Pool House, Cabs Records, Music is Art and Sakadat while Cipo delivered his magic through Urban Gorillaz, Pământ, Fake Records and PianoForest.
Side A opens with “Binary” by Cipo, a mesmerising steady-paced composition made for the dancefloor. Here, the dreamy atmospheres and lush breathing moments elegantly intertwine with the dynamic drumming patterns, providing a smooth peak-time experience. Following, Ciprian Stan takes the journey even further with “MMK”, dropping a twisted combination of minimal techno and experimental. Expect swinging raw phased chords to mix with prominent percussion elements and eerie synth stabs.
On the flipside “Speedup” is all about dubbed-out insertions and uplifting motions while “SMN” closes the record on a happy note, delivering a dreamy house-infused trip perfect for the afterhours of early mornings at any party.
