Les brings forward “Enchantica EP” for the 17th instalment in Leftback Intercities‘ digital catalogue, bringing his eclectic, mystical beats to the roster, accompanied by label co-honcho Mortalyf on remix duties. The mastering is signed by Mark Pearson (Play Mastering) and the artwork by James Micallef. Part of London’s underground label Obscure Rhythms, Les is recognised for his distinct approach to minimal as well as for his releases with Saraw, Implimind, Deep Water Culture and BP1 Records.

Well-known for its hypnotic low-slung and laid-back sound, Leftback Records showcases an amazing catalogue in both vinyl and digital formats, inviting artists and friends to push the boundaries of minimal techno, microhouse and closely related styles. Started in 2014 by Michael McLardy and Dudley Strangeways, the family steadily grew over the years, leaving a solid fingerprint in the international electronic music scene through their releases, events, podcasts and notable collaborations. This EP makes no exception.

“Continuum is a very special track to me. I made it quite some time ago but decided to sit on it and wait for the right release to come along before I shared it with anyone. When Mortalyf reached out I knew it had to be apart of the EP. I’ve been a big fan of Leftback since the beginning of my journey in music and it’s always been a goal of mine to release with them, each of the 4 original tracks reveal a unique side of my sound and I’m proud to be apart of such a good label. Shout out to Mortalyf for the killer remix too!” – Les

Designed with immersive textures and drumming patterns, carefully placed breathing moments that extend tension and subtle influences from breakbeat, each track features a unique approach in its groove that slowly progresses into a mesmerising journey. The slow-paced and deep atmosphere of the opening track “Wild West” is elegantly followed by the eerie vibes of our featured track “Continuum” which dives deeper into the obscure, revealing an entrancing motion perfect for dimly lighted dancefloors.

Next up, “Rendezvous” delivers a more swinging sound, crafted with powerful sub-bass sequences, funky synth stabs and wobbling percussion while “Enchantica” powers the tempo even more, sliding into a hypnotic rotation where echoing vocal samples add extra flavour to the whole movement. Closing the material, Mortalyf switches gears with his reinterpretation of the title track, dropping a solid dose of broken beats mixed with dubby atmospheres and heavily filtered complementary layers.
