Techfui 004 Lands With Stellar Remix Package Of “Hibiki Awa”

Techfui returns with another stand out 12” this summer as label founder Salah Sadeq delivers a refined remix package of the sought after “Hibiki Awa” a track which was initially released four years ago with studio companion Rashed Al Dhaen on their “Locus” release. A partnership that was built during covid restrictions, clicking directly when starting to jam, all whilst enjoying the “Hibiki Awa” Japanese whisky during the extended sessions. 

The limited and coloured wax will feature the track receiving a new lease of life from Romanian producer Techu, the ever-prolific Tolga Fidan, with two refreshing takes, and Rashed himself steps in for a reshape of the original. Four meandering cuts exploring a multitude of textures ready to make an impression on your record bag. The record also comes in a unique sleeve design from Georgian artist NUMB, and the campaign will also feature a t-shirt design on Everpress, where the artists collaborate further. 

The opening remix is from the maestro, Techu. His attention to detail when composing music has seen him continue to blossom in recent times. His take on “Hibiki Awa” is fuelled upon a killer elasticated groove, punchy as it continues to evolve. The A2 is Rashad Al Daen’s eccentric take on the original, teasing you down a path of wonky curiosity, a hypnotic yet swung encounter looking to light up floors this summer. 

The B side has been claimed by Tolga Fidan, as he provides two assortments of “Hibiki Awa”. Tolga kicks off with his enormous B1 version, crammed full of energy and a chugging sub-heavy bass. This shows that the release leans in a different direction, as we encounter some rave energy from Turkish producer Tolga Fidan. Still maintaining the mesmerising energy of its predecessors. Last but not least is Fidan’s “Refresh Remix”, a much more subtle affair as he presents a dreamy soundscape, ethereal melt-in-your-mind textures work their way around the crispy drum patterns. 

For the tastemakers amongst us, it is great news that the Techfui imprint continues to carry the torch, presenting sleek and classy house music for the dance floor. After many years of producing music together in Bahrain and releasing music, four years on we get to appreciate the masterpiece track once more with this heavy hitting, and eclectic remix package.

“Rashed and I met when I was back in Bahrain during a transitional period in my life. We had regular jam sessions at his place, where we got into a groove with a few tracks. One of them was Hibiki Awa, inspired by the infamous Japanese whiskey. The track was released on our digital compilation ‘Locus’ and got good reviews and asks on remixes and vinyl editions. Once we picked up our releases, it was always on our minds to press this refreshed with some nice remixes from artists that felt right.”

“Hibiki Awa started out as a dub edit of an original track we were both working on a while back in 2019. We stripped down most of its elements, swapped the bass line and noticed an interesting take on the original. After taking a break from a long late night session, a few Hibiki’s in, we got a little deeper into the mix and found the sound we were looking for.”
