Phooka – The Merge (w. Anthony Linell & Plants Army Revolver Remixes) [Concrete]

Concrete Records’ latest vinyl release, The Merge by Phooka, is here to jazz up your summer with an intriguing mix of techno twists and turns. This four-track gem promises a varied journey through sound, featuring remixes from some of the genre’s true talents.

The fun starts with Anthony Linell’s remix of “False Flag.” Imagine Linell, the Northern Electronics wizard, concocting an abstract sound potion with a stuttering kick drum as its base. Haunting tones and metallic percussion sprinkle in a bit of mystery, making this track the perfect soundtrack for an intergalactic treasure hunt.

The original “False Flag” by Phooka follows. Every beat of the thunderous kick and warm sub-bass creates an image of a dark and spacey soundscape.

The B-side starts with Plants Army Revolver’s remix of “The Rug Pull,” which follows with a throwback to tribal beats and dub techno vibes. This Italian duo knows how to spin a hypnotic web of looping rhythms that are bound to get your feet moving and your spirits lifted.

The original “The Rug Pull” by Phooka completes the picture with an ethereal yet welcoming soundtrack. Harmonious drones combine with shakers, congas, and sparse beats to provide an original ambience. It’s captivating, motivating, and just plain fascinating to explore the aural masterwork of modern art.

The Merge is a vibrant techno adventure, proving once again that Concrete Records knows how to keep things fresh and exciting. Phooka, Linell, and Plants Army Revolver deliver a release that’s as enjoyable as ambitious to an inexperienced ear.
