The next release from Leftback‘s digital sub-label, Leftback Intercities, is a unique collaboration. CNTRL, Oscar Jones, and Rupert Hartick have joined forces to create the EP “BRTHN“.

German artist CNTRL is returning to Intercities after first appearing on the label’s vinyl-only collection in 2017. Now, he’s back with three awesome electro-infused tracks, along with remixes from Oscar Jones and label newcomer Rupert Hartick. This EP contains three original tracks and two remixes, perfect for summer vibes and dancefloors.

This release will add even more wizardry to the label’s collection, presenting works from Dudley Strangeways, Mortalyf, Michael McLardy, Annie Errez, Matt Star, Empat, Cosmic Clap, Miller, Micallef and Dragosh.

“I’m a big fan of breaks / trip-hop and broken beats. The track “wrkdtrght” is based on a drum/break loop I built some years ago (around 2015/16); I recovered it in a listening session with a friend and felt something was missing, so I just let the loop play hours and jammed on the modular the bell-like sound and atmosphere which then was recorded on top.  I added those short vocal samples as well, and After this process, most parts were separately re-processed through some FX pedals. 
I love to process whole stems, past recordings, or track sketches through modular systems or FX chains to generate new ideas or change the entire feel of a track.“
