Lepaya – MOR 004 (w. Traumer & Giorgio Maulini remixes) [Mormorio]

Swiss imprint Mormorio returns with its 4th vinyl-only instalment with crew member Lepaya dropping two hot original cuts while Traumer and Giorgio Maulini complete the record with their steaming remixes. MOR 004 follows up on the collective’s releases brought forward by Mikhu, Lorik, Fulvio Cala and Mjulev with Dragan being the only one left to soon deliver a taste of his own productions. The venture is also widely known for its memorable showcase events where they invited artists like Cosmjn and NTFO to play alongside the crew.

With more than 5 years of activity in the underground electronic music scene, Basel-based DJ and producer Lepaya always delivers the grooves with an accent on microhouse and minimal techno. Among the labels he’s so far worked with we find Mormorio, H24 Musique and Sanguina Records.

The EP opens with the original take on “Freeway”, a warm composition designed with breezy breakbeats, immersive background textures, inviting vocal samples and lush breakdowns that create just enough breathing moments. While this cut seems to work perfectly for the afterhours playtime, Traumer‘s remix transforms the piece into a rather energetic affair, best-fitted for peak time moments on the dancefloor.

On the flipside we first find “Social Disdancing”, a twisted track flavoured with low-slung broken beats, glitched elements and bright dubby chords that reverberate throughout the whole journey. Giorgio Maulini resets the mood with his old-school reinterpretation, going full breaks and unleashing a hypnotic swinging sound that closes the 12″ with style.
