exclusive premiere: Terence :Terry: – Two Thousands Zero Zero [Seriously Records]

Seriously Concept has brought together numerous artists and dropped memorable events in Ibiza for nearly five years, from incredible party villas to more classical clubbing events. Recently, Chusin the owner and his crew have decided to take the story even further so the first release from the freshly founded Seriously Records is announced to arrive soon with Parisian artist Terence :Terry: at the controls alongside Jacobo Saavedra on remix duties. Titled “No Kleenex For The Tears”, the material delivers a flamboyant and electrifying sound that incorporates different shades of breaks and minimal.

As a teenager hanging out at the first underground warehouse raves on the outskirts of Paris, Terence :Terry: discovered a melange of genres and grew a strong passion for diverse sounds that would inspire him to take to the decks and steadily build a successful career as a DJ, producer and label owner. Throughout time Terence enjoyed several residencies (Nouveau Casino, Djoon, Batofar, Rex Club) while his DJing took him from DC10 Ibiza to Panoramabar and Watergate in Berlin, Goa Madrid and Fabric London. Among the labels he worked with we find Rawbeats Records, Kamarads, Landed, DDS, Origine Rec, Parliamnt, Melodeum, as well as his own playground La Vie En Rose launched back in 2012.

“Well, this track came from the idea of the original track from Prince called “1999”. The original lyrics are “2000 party over, oops, out of time”. I tried to keep the voice as it was and use it in some other environment. A breakbeat with a pop snare drum combined with a mysterious atmosphere and a futuristic design and texture.”

The title track “No Kleenex For The Tears” opens the release with an uptempo sound carefully crafted with a swinging drumming core, bright background pads and mysterious vocals that add an extra eerie atmosphere. On the flipside we first find our featured original take on “Two Thousands Zero Zero” dropping a twisted combination of breakbeat and funk inspired by a classic song by Prince. The spaced-out effects, the warm chords and the carefully placed breakdowns create a groovy experience, perfect for the dancefloor. Closing, Jacobo Saavedra‘s remix takes the sound into an uplifting dimension flavoured with subtle acidic synth melodies and electric rhythms and textures.
