Optide & Adar Cohen – Dimension (w. Christopher Ledger remixes) [Afterhours.]
The 5th vinyl release coming from Afterhours. reveals two fresh cuts signed by Tel Aviv’s Optide and Adar Cohen alongside Christopher Ledger on remix duties. Titled “Dimension”, the EP reveals an elegant and unique blend of electro, breakbeat, minimal and microhouse that will surely take dancefloors by storm worldwide. The record also adds an extra drop of magic to the imprint’s discography which includes titles signed by RQZ, Vid, Vlad Arapasu and Silat Beksi.
Both Adar Cohen and Optide are well-known in the Israelian underground scene for quite some time now, always dropping steaming sets and inspiring productions while promoting electronic music through numerous events. Adar is a resident DJ at The Block Club and co-founder of Clouds Collective, constantly pushing the boundaries of music with her selections whereas Optide likes to play with various analogue instruments and craft intriguing grooves. Some of his productions have been released via H24 Musique, 7hDuMat, Boshke Beats Records, Friday Lights Music, Implimind and Traum.
Side A opens with the title track “Dimension”, laying out a twisted combination of broken beats, surreal background textures and glitched insertions smoothly complemented by a pulsating bassline while Christopher’s reinterpretation reveals an equally driving stripped-down version flavoured with specific old-school nuances and arrangements.
On the flip, the original take on “Hypnagogic” delivers a steady-paced rhythm designed with deep tones, evolving pads and swinging percussive patterns that dive into breaks and microhouse colours. The closing remix sees Ledger transforming B1 into a four-to-the-floor tool infused with warm atmospheres, spiralling acid pads and spacious breathing moments. A highly recommended 12″ right here for collectors and selectors alike.
