Tuccillo – Instante EP [Melodeum]

Chicago-based record label Melodeum presents the 6th instalment in its vinyl-only catalogue in the form of “Instante EP” signed by Italian DJ and producer Tuccillo, well-known for his releases with Vendetta Records, 20:20 Vision, Ovum Recordings, 8bit Records, Oblack, Holic Trax, Roush, Visionquest, Moscow Records and his own Unblock playground, to name just a few. This also brings an extra magic touch to the imprint’s publishings which already feature works from the likes of Herck, Nima Gorji, Birdsmakingmachine, Roluce and C.E.S.M.

Always blending various genres and styles into his mixes and productions, Tuccillo delivers a fresh sound well rooted in the underground scene for quite some time now. Over the years, digital instruments have been incorporated into his set-up yet he still prefers to mix and modulate loops directly from the hardware, as part of his creative process. With an emphasis on dusty drums and solid basslines, this EP drops a lively dancefloor-oriented affair highly recommended for collectors and selectors alike.

The EP sets sail with “Limbo”, a low-slung minimalistic composition infused with an ever-evolving drive powered by a solid combination of alluring drumming patterns, a prominent wobbling bassline, inviting vocals cuts and carefully placed breakdowns. Next up, “Rainy Day” delivers a deep melancholic sound, smoothly crafted with microhouse flavours that maintain the energy levels high while spinning into a memorable dancefloor affair.

On the flip “Too Close” keeps to the energy of the previous two cuts and drops an uplifting journey that keeps exploring deep house arrangements and themes while the title track “Instante” closes the release with a four-to-the-floor groove that rumbles through the frequencies with style. Just make sure you put on your dancing shoes!
