Hailing from Brazil, Murilo Sant’Anna aka 7i7o is a DJ with a passion for understanding how music impacts different cultures around the world, believing that the power of electronic beats can connect us all. He started mixing while studying Production Engineering in college, exploring various styles and genres, digging for rare gems and carefully planning his next move.
Aside from just spinning records, he ventured into entrepreneurship, interning at PIV Records in Amsterdam where he implemented a revolutionary booking system that optimized the agency’s schedule and created Perpetua and Anarchy concept parties that have shaken up the music scene in Sao Paulo and Santos. As a resident DJ and booker at the iconic 8-Bits Club, 7i7o collaborated with some of the biggest names in the scene, including Prunk, Ben Rau, James Dexter, Rossi, The Willers Brothers and Ray Mono, among others. With his finger on the pulse of the industry, there’s no telling what kind of thrilling projects he’ll take on next.
“On the day of the recording, I just had a blast after surfing some amazing waves in my hometown of Santos, Brazil. I let my instincts guide me as I mixed in elements of Brazilian funk and bossa nova with that unique Rominimal kickdrum and some of the percussion lines popular in London and Amsterdam. I was fortunate to have my friend Seed Selector, a talented producer, provide one of the tracks that I played at the 23-minute mark. His music perfectly captured the spirit and rhythm of the Brazilian Carnival and I was thrilled to bring that same energy to my set. It was such an honour to showcase my sound for a scene that has influenced my musical style so much and to do so in a country where my brother has been living for two years now.
