Komponente, Kurilo – Ghost In The Shell [Trance Pandemic]

Ukrainian record label Trance Pandemic announces its second release to return in selected record stores worldwide in a repressed and recut version. Signed by label heads Komponente and Kurilo, the EP is named after the iconic anime movie “Ghost In The Shell” and delivers a solid acid techno and trance music combination perfect for steaming rave parties as well as dimly lighted dancefloors.

Komponente and Kurilo are already well-known for their distinct approach to electronic music and their contribution to both their local and international underground scenes. With productions out on Tvir, Kultura Zvuka, Spaziotempo, Body Parts, Blindtone or Mung Records, the two artists have constantly pushed the boundaries of techno, house, trance and breakbeat while adding a groovy acid touch to their sound. Side A opens with the title track “Ghost In The Shell” laying out a hypnotic affair designed with light and dark tones that beautifully complement each other while rendering a cinematic soundscape from a cyberpunk future. Next up, “Ramayana” references the ancient Indian epic and dives into steady-paced dub techno and acid trance patterns that will take you into a meditative state of mind with its spiralling textures and pulsating arpeggios.

On August 15, 1977, a strong narrowband radio signal was detected by Jerry R. Ehman while working on the Big Ear radio telescope at Ohio State University. “Wow!” is a tribute to the astronomer’s note on the computer printout reading of the signal’s intensity which remains undeciphered, yet here the two artists envision what an alien party would sound like and drop a solid piece for the dancefloor.

The EP closes with “After Glow”, an ever-evolving composition with an unearthly atmosphere, shimmering with contrasting synth sequences and scales. Imagine a neutrino of a thermonuclear sun, making its way through thunderclouds and bringing hope to the bright future of the present time.
