For this episode of our ongoing podcast series we switch our focus once more on the local underground scene and invite Oddist to deliver an eclectic selection, perfect to start your weekend with.
Vlad Mierlea aka Oddist discovered his passion for electronic music and started being part of the local underground scene when he was in high school. It definitely didn’t take long for the art of mixing to become a habit as he steadily explored various styles and genres, always experimenting and trying to find out-of-the-box solutions for his favourite tracks to be included in eclectic DJ sets.
It was 4 years ago when he received a completely random and unexpected question from Miss I if he would like to come and work at Misbits Record Shop, as he often went there to dig and buy records while spending a lot of time listening to new releases. Somehow this was the moment when he started devoting even more time to music and had the opportunity to meet and work with a lot of interesting people and local artists.
As years passed by Oddist explored and began to appreciate music in all its forms, shapes and colours, going beyond the barriers of mainstream trends, styles and genres with his work. His distinct approach to mixing brought him under the headlights in no time, sharing the decks with artists like Markus Sommer, Topper, Charlie, Miss I, Dragos Ilici, Kozo, Melodie, Vlad Caia and Alexandru Jijian.
“This is the end part of a set recorded last month at Platforma Wolff. The people that stayed and danced until early in the morning had amazing energy and you can feel this in my selection as well, breaking patterns, unpredictable… kind of like controlled chaos. The recording has its flaws, it’s nowhere near perfect, I am still at a point where I am experimenting a lot. Sometimes I get a little overwhelmed and, naturally, mistakes happen, but in the end, I try not to let this discourage me. Leaving all things aside, I will let the music speak on my behalf, I hope you will enjoy it. Peace!”
