Brazilian electronic music powerhouse Laguna Records brings its Laguna Raw series on vinyl with an anniversary Various Artists compilation featuring four steaming house and deep tech cuts signed by Andrey Djackonda, Mihai Popoviciu, Artmann and Hart & Neenan.
Based in Curitiba, Laguna Music is more than just a label, it’s a way of thinking, acting and experiencing different cultures through sound, as the venture swings between releasing amazing music from artists worldwide while bringing names such as Sidney Charles, Hector, Luuk Van Dijk, East End Dubs, Patrick Topping, Archie Hamilton, Marco Faraone and many others to their parties.
Opening Side A, Conceptual Records’ head chef Andrey Djackonda drops “Raw Em”, an uplifting house groove smoothly infused with spiralling synth melodies, playful chords and spacious breakdowns that create an inspiring track progression. Following, local pioneer Mihai Popoviciu delivers “Route 40”, a late-night dubby cut designed with minimalistic arrangements, carefully crafted reverberations and a steady-paced rhythm perfect for the dancefloor.
On the flipside we first find “Mine And Yours” by Amsterdam-based DJ and producer Artmann, a deep and classy composition flavoured with all the necessary ingredients to make the track best-fitted for the afterhours or laid-back moments at any party. Closing the record, the collaborative jam between Hart and Neenan entitled “Everybody” rumbles through the frequencies with style, laying out a thundering sound imbued with subtle funky insertions and a rolling four-to-the-floor beat.
