The 5th vinyl-only instalment coming from Sounds of Sirius features two original cuts signed by Venda, one of the most prominent figures in Sydney’s underground electronic music scene as well as a friend and constant supporter of the label. Titled “Skeleton EP”, the record receives two additional remixes, one signed by Point of View’s head chef Giuliano Lomonte and one by label head Herman Saiz in collaboration with local artist userUNKNWN. The immersive nature of the music featured here makes this record perfect for twilight sessions, when the stillness of the night sky meets the vibrant hues of the sunrise.

David Harman aka Venda has been steadily making a name for himself in the international circuit, always delivering electrifying DJ sets to the people and amazing releases via labels like Subsonic Music, Norse Projekt, Modeight, Mantra Collective, Perceive, Pământ (Unic) and Pathway Traxx. This EP makes no exception from his distinct style, while the remixes spice things up even more.

Both the title track “Skeleton” and our featured track for today “Casper” are inspired by the warm summer days in Sydney, laying out driving rhythms and textures perfect to drift away on. While A1 carries a melancholic feeling smoothly infused with drilling effects, subtle grunge textures and dreamy steady-paced drumming patterns, A2 dives even deeper into hypnotizing minimalistic sounds designed with soothing pads, spiralling complementary layers and a mysterious heavily modulated vocal sample.

On the flipside, Giuliano Lomonte’s reconstruction of the title track delivers an electric dancefloor tool suitable for peak-time moments at any party while Herman Saiz and userUNKNWN slide into cosmic spaces, reaching other realms at the edges of minimal techno, microhouse and psychedelic music. Definitely a must-have 12″ right here for collectors, selectors and enthusiasts alike.
