Sydney-based imprint Fafo Records returns to its digital catalogue with “Black EP” delivering three fresh cuts signed by Fardin Ameri, two of which were made in collaboration with Soso and Boba. This announcement comes right after two recent vinyl drops from Cirkel Square and Camilo Gil & Øne+1 as well as some amazing digital releases by Esteban, Fernando Gonzalez and Nektar Agu. The label’s Chilean roots are surely distinctive yet the label addresses an international audience that shares the same passion for modern electronic music.

Fardin Ameri is an electronic music producer and DJ based in Tehran. He discovered music through his keyboard at the age of 14 and now he’s one of the pioneers in Iran’s underground scene. Aside from inspiring live performances behind the decks, throughout the time he also released some of his own productions through labels like Love International, Pure Substance Digital, Saraw, Minimalaysia, Rockets Audio, Cultrun Cult Records, Rhythmic Lab, DUB Musik and Fratii.ro, among others.

The EP kicks off with the title track “Black”, laying out a sublime minimalistic sound smoothly crafted with a steady-paced rhythm flavoured with twisted synth stabs, spiralling glitched layers, wobbling bassline bursts and eerie violin chords that create a driving and organic flow of arrangements perfect for dimly lighted dancefloors.

Following, “Blue” featuring Soso keeps to the hypnotic energy of the first track yet it gets infused with mellow melodies and deep background textures that create an overall melancholic and serene feeling, just like in those moments when you lay on the ground watching the motion of clouds on a bright blue sky.

Closing the EP, the collaborative track with Boba entitled “Green” switches gears for an uplifting sound, revealing a thundering breakbeat that rolls with full power alongside a punching bassline, reverberating sequences and inviting vocal cuts that call out for a dance.
