Aamir – Repeat EP (w. Nu Zau remix) [Who Am I On Wax]
The underground electronic music venture WHOAMI Records presents its vinyl-only outlet Who Am I On Wax with Aamir at the controls dropping “Repeat EP” alongside Nu Zau on remix duties. After three digital compilations that featured artists like Octave, Sakdat & Balaur, Whyt, Boske, Constand, Vlad Bretan and Cosmic Clap, among others, it’s really nice to see the label entering a new chapter in its journey. Early support comes from Arapu, Traumer, Sublee and Macarie, to name a few.
Amir Jusufi, or simply Aamir, is a Switzerland-based DJ and producer who started his career in 2012 and quickly made a name for himself in the international community. With a residency at the young label Round the Corner, gigs all across Europe and releases on RTC Series, Fixed:Composite and Urban MIDI Records the future sure looks promising for him. For this EP, Nu Zau joins in with a steaming remix, completing the record with style.
Side A opens with “After”, which just as its name implies, reveals a steady-paced composition best fitted for the afterhours. A warm, melancholic and wobbling bassline falls into focus here, as mellow textures roll with ease in the background and the breakdowns provide just enough breathing space. Next up, “Prax” switches gears for a more funky sound, spinning at 125 bpm alongside swinging synth bells, reverberating effects and subtle psychedelic flavours.
On the flipside we first have the title track “Repeat”, a groovy and uptempo cut served with electric breaks, smoothly crafted bleeps and glitches, a pumping rhythm and an immersive progression. Closing the 12″, Nu Zau‘s remix delivers a hypnotic chugging sound that takes the original layers into an eerie dimension with enough drive to be an excellent choice during peak time moments at any party.
