Canadian record label VRNT returns with its third vinyl pressing, inviting Vancouver’s techno icon Jay Tripwire to take over the beats alongside Romanian DJ and producer Herck on remix duties. The record is expected to arrive soon in a limited number of copies, adding even more magic to the imprint’s expanding catalogue which so far contains two materials signed by label head April Terry aka Topology and Dragutesku.

With a career that spans more than 20 years, numerous performances and hundreds of releases under his belt, Jay Tripwire has definitely left his mark on modern electronic music and still continues to do so. Some of his most iconic EPs and albums have been dispatched via Nordic Trax, Fine Funk, Big Chief, Northern Lights, Tree House Recordings, Uncut, Deepfunk, Conya, Fake Records, Vuew, Akbal Music and Repeat. Joining him on VRLTD003, local artist Herck does what he knows best and that’s taking the title track and reconstructing it around his distinct minimalistic style.

Closing the 12″, Herck‘s remix undoubtedly stands out as instead of getting his twisted dark minimal fingerprint sound we’re all accustomed to, we’re being served a groovy steady-paced composition that strips back the original and tunes it down into the realm of rominimal. Expect a warm and glitchy track with an inspiring progression that feels just perfect for the early afterhours.

Most certainly inspired by the real-life story of “The Elephant Man”, The Real Life of John Merrick drops a solid techno affair smoothly crafted with driving drumming patterns, trippy effects and a touch of psychedelic that will make anyone on the dancefloor start shaking their body in an instance.

In contrast, Pleiadian Wavelength switches gears for a deeper sound flavoured with bright harmonics and ever-evolving background textures that create a hypnotic journey from the very first second to the last. A highly recommended record right here for collectors and selectors alike!
