exclusive premiere: CVO – Don’t Stop (Friz07 Disco In Space Mix) [Paulum]

The freshly founded events and record label Paulum sets sail with an amazing material entitled “Secret Garden EP” signed by its founder and manager Casimir von Oettingen aka CVO alongside Nick Beringer and Friz07 on remix duties. The four-tracker delivers a delightful mix between bouncy minimal house and groovy breakbeats while marking the beginning of a new chapter for the Berlin-based venture.

CVO is well-known for his intense activity in the international electronic music scene, having numerous performances under his belt as well as outstanding releases with labels like Bar 25, ost end musik, What! What! Records, Lauter, Submarine Vibes and his own Make Scents Audio, among many others. Friz07, the author of our exclusive premiere for today, is a long-time collaborator and friend who made his solo debut in 2018 on Empore Music and followed with exquisite drops on Luna Club Records and Bladehouse.

“Finally, the time has come. After a small discovery phase this year we can finally announce the first sounds of Paulum to arrive very soon. Big thanks to Tripmastaz for the beautiful mastering! Looking forward to many more hot releases in the next months.”

While the original take on “Don’t Stop” reveals a deep and driving sound designed with jazzy atmospheres, funky insertions and straight breakbeat drumming, Friz07 takes the track into the wonderfully twisted world of minimal house. The trippy vibe of his “Disco In Space Mix” invites you to dream and shake your body, as the core of the cut is driven by a distinct, perfectly positioned bassline. A wonderful tool to send the crowd on another kind of journey in the early morning hours.

The title track “Secret Garden” lays out a steady-paced rhythm smoothly complemented by warm background textures, meandering pads and pulsating effects that create a hypnotic affair, perfect for the dancefloor. The EP is rounded off by a super crisp and pushy remix by none other than Rubisco’s head chef Nick Beringer who reconstructs the track with subtle yet powerful arrangements that are also oriented for peak time selections.

feeder.ro: Hello Casimir, it’s a pleasure to have you as a guest on our exclusive premiere series once again! Tell us more about the concept behind your new label Paulum.

CVO: The idea of why I founded the label is very simple. I want to collaborate with amazing artists, organise events and release records, because we all love minimal, house and breakbeat. “Paulum” comes from Latin and means “a little” or “a little bit”. For me, it’s a nice synonym for microhouse. Less is more!

f: What’s the story that made “Secret Garden EP” to be the first release?

CVO: It all started early this year with an event I made in Berlin in order to collect money for artists who were affected by the war in Ukraine. Unfortunately, I didn’t have so much time this year to do a second one, so I focused more on producing and finding nice artists for our upcoming releases. The first one is from me alongside Friz07, a very good homie and label colleague from Bladehouse and Nick Beringer, which I’m a huge fan and I’m more than happy that he did a remix. His productions and labels inspired me for ages, so when he said “Yes” I felt so honoured!

f: What are your future plans for the label? When can we expect a follow-up release?

CVO: The plan is to release the music on Bandcamp. If possible every two months. A little hint, the second one will be from another colleague from Bladehouse.

“Secret Garden EP” will be available starting tomorrow, 16th December, on the label’s official Bandcamp page.
