Fabe – Sober Up EP [Cecille Records]
Mannheim-based electronic music powerhouse Cecille Records returns with “Sober Up EP” by Fabian Winkels aka Fabe, who drops four fresh tracks designed with uplifting house, tech house and minimalistic sounds. The record definitely adds even more magic to the imprint’s extended catalogue which also includes works from artists like Markus Fix, DJ Sneak, Premiesku, Nima Gorji, SIS, Butch, Tripmastaz, Einzelkind, iO (Mulen), Reboot as well as label heads Nick Curly and Marc Scholl, among others
With many years of activity in the international electronic music scene, Fabe is well-known for his engaging DJ sets as well as for his inspiring productions. Throughout time he collaborated with Valioso, Infuse, The Gathering Records, Kusi, La Pena, BodyParts, BE9, Mulen, Cocoon, Malonian and his own playground, Salty Nuts. His swinging sound delivers solid beat structures paired with a classic house drive and techno grooves.
First on Side A, the thundering “Solid & Straight” perfectly describes the mood of the record, laying out a steaming house-infused rhythm perfect for the dancefloor. Integrating an old-school touch through the vocal cuts and short tension-building breaks this one goes for all classic house music lovers out there. Following, “At The Bar” continues the journey with a swinging groove and a bubbly bassline that stands out and smoothly complements all the layers, including the inviting vocal inserts.
On the flipside we first get down on the drifting chords and driving drumming of “Frozen Cake” while the closing track “Had To Go” dives deep into electro and disco influences with a bit of nostalgia add in order to create a mesmerising affair suitable for the early afterhours.
