Eddie Richards – After All Vol 1 2×12″ [Repeat]

After recently dispatching Jay Tripwire’s double LP “My Life With The Machines“, Repeat announces to soon return with an exceptional collection of classics and rarities signed by British electronic music icon Eddie Richards. Entitled “After All”, the release brings forward 24 tracks spread across 3 volumes of 2×12″ record packs, a true delight for passionate crate diggers out there as well as early supporters like Richie Hawtin, Ricardo Villalobos and Craig Richards, among others.

Rocking the underground scene since the mid-’80s, Eddie Richards‘s extended activity as a selector and producer transformed him into one of the house music pioneers coming from the UK and going beyond on a worldwide musical journey. His flawless mix of deep bass-driven techno with soulful and tough house, a format he has always maintained, led him to be widely regarded as the creator of tech house.

Throughout time Eddie worked on numerous projects using various aliases and founded Dy-Na-Mix, the first specialised DJ Booking agency of its kind worldwide (2000-2010). He published his music through his own Lunar Tunes, Storm Recordings and Othersound labels as well as ventures like Visitor, World Sound, Fabric, HyperVinyl, Adroit, Northern Lights, Crayon and Wiggle.

After All Vol 1 reveals 8 tracks that showcase a beautiful mix of microhouse, deep house and tech house, smoothly flavoured with subtle techno, funk and electro influences here and there. From the more minimalistic rhythms and textures of the opening and closing tracks “Feel So” and “Dream2”, to the tension-building arrangements and soulful vibes of “M’baby” and “Soul Is Life”, the album reveals a selection of tracks that can be enjoyed at any moment on the dancefloor, from the warm-up to peak-time and the afterhours.

As a transition tool, we have “Yrwhat”, a chugging composition ready to make anyone groove while the uptempo sound is provided by “Someday” and “a-Comm”, both rendering entrancing energy through their inviting vocal themes. The remix of Jay Tripwire’s “So Horny For Your Horn” can also be found here, laying out a steaming rhythm enhanced by the presence of a constant trumpet sample and mysterious vocal cuts. A highly recommended release for collectors and selectors alike.
