Latvian DJ and producer Nicolas Barnes is next up on Spanish record label Never Is Eternal with “Voices In My Head” EP alongside Modebaku on remix duties. The material delivers an engaging and introspective sound designed with immersive atmospheres, deep driving rhythms and amazing dub flavours, no wonder early support arrives from the likes of Mihai Pol, Sepp, Crihan, Silat Beksi, Andrey Pushkarev, Vlad Arapasu, Prichindel, Vid and Olivian Nour among others.

It’s really nice to see Nicolas Barnes joining the roster at NIE, as he’s well-known for his deep tech, dub techno and microhouse-infused releases and sets. His numerous productions, remixes and edits are constantly updated with fresh works, so expect new ones dropping soon, aside from the ones you can already find on labels like Eli.sound, Concept, MixCult, Simple Things, Razom, Conceptual Records, Simple Things, Soblazn, Microgarden lab. and his own Ecoul Snd.

Never Is Eternal is curated by Chech and Bazait and always brings forward the best of the underground sound which is definitely a preference of many selectors, party goers and electronic music enthusiasts worldwide. Their catalogue includes artists like N&O, Majhu, Enzo Leep and Jacobo Saavedra while their presence represents the vibes of the underground minimal and techno movement.

The title track “Voices In My Head” as well as its counterpart “Out Of Style” reveal subtle house variations elegantly blended with dub elements, lush atmospheric textures and spacious breakdowns or transitions between states of mind. Groovy but moderate, engaging yet balanced, a truly inspiring mixture of sounds that will make anyone start drifting into otherwordly soundscapes in seconds. Modebaku completes the journey with his breakbeat-infused remix, keeping to the original layers of the original yet taking them into a four-to-the-floor environment, best fitted for peak time moments on the dancefloor.
