Magnetic Series‘ inaugural release showcases Romanian DJ and producer Tulbure, who delivers four solid four-to-the-floor minimalistic cuts in the form of “U Side EP”. Being the first to represent the Paris-based imprint’s vision of underground electronic music, the artist surely delivers the vibes just like we’re accustomed to coming from his side, adding to an amazing discographic history that includes collaborations with Archipel, Apotek, Pressure Traxx, BP Mind Series, Atmos, Music is Art, Organic Society, Memoria Ltd, Soblazn and UVAR, among others.

One half of TC Studio, Matei Tulbure isn’t a new name in town for a while now. Boasting a wide array of skills, he’s all about rumbling through the spectrum, moving low frequencies and crispy, delicate highs that gravitate around intricate pads, percussion and hypnotic vocal chops. This EP makes no exception so let’s explore it in more depth.

Dropping intense dancefloor sounds, the title track “U Side” opens the record with a powerful rhythm that’s ready to make everyone shake their legs while teleporting them into a cosmic dimension flavoured with ever-evolving patterns and rich textures. Following, “Locker” switches the mood to broken beats and abstract compositions where the intricate arrangements of the layers display groovy outcomes perfect for peak-time moments at any party.

On the flipside we first find the deep explorations of “Mjay”, a hypnotic track where the background dismantled vocal cuts rotate around a steady-paced centerpoint, ready to rumble through the freqs, while “Sehas” delivers a pure minimal vibe that can only make underground music vinyl lovers and collectors to pre-order this 12″ in no time.
