Matheiu – Comet 432 (w. Nick Beringer & Denis Kaznacheev remixes) [Tied]
The next instalment in Tied‘s catalogue features Venezuelan-born and Berlin-based artist Matheiu alongside Nick Beringer and Denis Kaznacheev on remix duties. Titled “Comet 432”, the record delivers an intense journey into the realm of minimal techno and breakbeat, showcasing the artists at their finest. The EP surely adds extra flavour to the label’s discography, which includes collaborations with Topper, Andrea Ferlin, Noha, Ciphr, Sakro, Dieru, Nektar Agu and Anthony Constans, to name a few.
Matheiu is widely known for his unusual approach to electronic music, playing with various shades of minimal, microhouse or ambient for quite some time now. He’s also in charge of Rockets Audio and Ark Scapes, two unique projects that are at the forefront of modern electronica, bringing forward amazing sounds from artists like Yes’in, Cesare VS Disorder, Diego, Aleksander Erdmann, Rowan, Chech, Dramachine, He Did, CL-ljud, Roluce, Dubphone and himself, among many many others.
“Comet 432” and “Double Helix” smoothly complete one another, dropping immersive atmospheres elegantly crafted with groovy broken beats, warm background textures, engaging arrangements as well as spacious breakdowns and twisted effects. The title track receives two outstanding remixes, one from Nick Beringer who takes the original into the afterparty dimension, laying out a steady-paced rhythm flavoured with deep house and microhouse elements and one from Denis Kaznacheev who goes funky with deep modular jams, perfect for the dancefloor. A must-have 12″ right here for collectors and selectors alike!
