Canadian DJ and producer Mike Shannon returns to his well-known label Cynosure Records with yet another amazing EP titled “Galactics”, bringing forward three fresh and twisted tracks that explore various shades of microhouse and minimal. The material adds even more magic to the imprint’s extended catalogue which also includes works signed by artists like Deadbeat, Mossa, Adam Marshall, Ernesto Ferreyra, Mark Henning, Matt Thibideau, Andrea Fiorito, DeWalta and Monoblock, among others.

Currently based in Berlin, Mike Shannon is widely known for his intense activity in the international underground electronic music scene, having numerous releases and performances under his belt since he started out his career almost two decades ago. Among the imprints he so far collaborated with we find Force Inc. Music, ~scape, Plus 8 Records, Blue Recordings, Logistic Records, Wagon Repair, Num, Meander, Half Baked, Visionquest, Secret Society and Haunt, a sublabel of Cynosure.

On Side A we find “Re-Equate Yourself”, an uplifting composition that smoothly blends wobbly minimal sounds with house elements and spatial effects. The intricate arrangements create an ongoing flow of energy perfect for the dancefloor. On the flipside, “Hover Drive” dives deep into microhouse while the breakdowns reveal subtle dub influences. The closing cut “Galactica” drops a steaming and rather abstract rhythm powered by prominent synth chords that constantly build tension.
